The 2026 China Personal Clothing Industry New Quality Development Conference, with the theme of "AI Leading · Digital Transformation", was held on the afternoon of March 18th at the Fifth Chaoshan Fashion Expo. Industry experts and enterprise representatives gathered to jointly discuss how artificial intelligence can empower the transformation and upgrading of traditional industries. 

Chen Fuzhong, the deputy secretary-general of the Shantou Municipal Government, stated in his speech that under the new round of technological revolution, AI is reshaping the industrial landscape. As the "Capital of Underwear and Home Clothing in China", Shantou has a profound foundation in the textile and clothing industry and a strong spirit of transformation. The local area is relying on the Talent Integration Center to cultivate versatile talents and is leveraging digitalization to empower the upgrading of traditional industries. The government will act as a "business facilitator" to optimize the business environment and support industrial development. The hope is that entrepreneurs seize the AI opportunities to deeply invest in Shantou and jointly turn "Shantou Weaving" into a globally outstanding brand. 

Lei Limin, the president of the China Textile Merchants Association, stated in his speech that AI technology is profoundly reshaping the industry landscape of intimate apparel. The industry is encountering new opportunities while also facing transformation challenges. The association will continue to build platforms and issue guidelines to assist the industry's development. The industrial practice in Shantou has provided valuable samples for the industry. It is hoped that the entire industry will unite as one, persist in innovation and coordinated development, and promote the Chinese intimate apparel industry to move towards the high-end of the value chain and have Chinese brands shine globally. 

At the conference site, the "White Paper on Innovation and Upgrading of Home Clothing and Thermal Underwear Industry" was released. Tian Xu, the secretary-general of the Home Clothing Professional Committee of the China Textile Business Association, interpreted the white paper and proposed an industrial upgrading path of "intelligent wearables + green manufacturing + flexible supply chain". He also awarded plaques to a group of innovative enterprises, affirming their pioneering explorations in the industrial transformation. 

A ceremony for awarding the National Consortium for the Integration of Production and Education in Underwear Industry was also held at the scene. The integration of production and education is the core approach to activating the innovation vitality of the industry and cultivating high-quality professionals. The establishment of this consortium will inject strong momentum into the new quality development of the underwear industry. Doctor Shen Liuming from the China Textile Construction Planning Institute and Director Lei Yusheng from Shantou Polytechnic University presented the award to the consortium, and 21 units including Hongjie Underwear Co., Ltd., Xi'an University of Engineering, and Shantou Polytechnic University represented as the first batch of member units came to the stage to receive the award.
