As consumers pay more attention to the clothes they wear, brands, designers and engineers alike are innovating and integrating new technologies to meet or even exceed the greater expectations of shoppers.
Today, we are here to share some innovative fabrics that are designed for our greener future, or the fabric of the future.
01
PrimaLoft Bio
Fiber company PrimaLoft recently launched its latest sustainable product, PrimaLoft Bio, a biodegradable solution that is the first 100% recycled synthetic fiber on the market. "Through PrimaLoft Bio, we can deliver unparalleled biodegradable solution performance to drive the concept of sustainability," said Mike Joyce, President and CEO of PrimaLoft. "By working closely with like-minded brands, we aim to use this technology as a blueprint for developing products made entirely of biodegradable ingredients. These partnerships will be catalysts for companies and consumers to work together to offset the environmental impact of the textile industry."
02
Polylana
What is Polylana called? Is a patent-pending fibre and recycled material blend of staple fibres and is the only low impact alternative to 100% acrylic and wool on the market. Polyana's recycled material mixture includes modified polyester particles and rPET flakes that allow it to be dyed at low temperatures, giving it a "unique" feel when woven. Arvin Goods chose Polylana as the main material for its hat collection, which debuted earlier this season. Winegardner told WWD, "Millions of wool hats are sold every few months of the year. The yarn components of these products are all 100% acrylic. There is no substitute for good feel, quality and reasonable price. "Polylana is the only real option in the market," he continued. We like to use it as a material, and it also saves nearly two gallons of water per wool cap. Most importantly, we want to show you that it is possible to use low impact materials to produce high quality products at a very good price. The only way mass consumers can change their spending behavior
