Recently, the "Fiber New Horizon - Innovation Forum on Textile Materials" - the special session on in-depth interpretation of China's fiber fashion trends was held during the 2026 China International Textile Yarn (Spring Summer) Exhibition. On the morning of that day, the "Tong Kun - China Fiber Fashion Trend 2026/2027 Release Conference" grandly opened in the Silk Road Hall of Exhibition Hall 4.2 at the National Exhibition Center (Shanghai). The release was themed "Building Momentum and Breaking Through", covering four chapters: "Fiber - New Beginning", "Fiber - Iteration", "Fiber - Riding the Wave", and "Fiber - Breaking Through". The product types included ten categories such as biobased chemical fibers, recycled chemical fibers, elastic fibers, comfort fibers, and all-effect warm control fibers, totaling over 30 products. 

At this forum, experts and scholars presented a series of in-depth insights and sharing on topics such as trend interpretation, public welfare assistance, material application, and standard establishment, which helped accelerate the progress of Chinese fiber brands towards the international stage. 

Wang Huaping, a researcher from the School of Materials Science and Engineering of Donghua University, provided a systematic and in-depth interpretation of Tongkun - China Fiber Trend 2026/2027. He stated that in the theme, "accumulating momentum" is reflected in accumulating quality craftsmanship, green intelligence energy, and collaborative ecology. From the delicate qualities of cotton-like, wool-like, silk-like, and leather-like to the industrial toughness of high strength and high modulus, the chemical fiber people persist in polishing every fiber; "breaking through" is manifested in breaking the living realm, breaking the application boundaries, and breaking the development situation. Fibers enable sportswear to safeguard vitality in moisture absorption and sweat dissipation, and make home textile products weave a peaceful sleep in terms of skin contact and breathability. With the innovative green fibers, they respond to people's pursuit of sustainable living. 

Wang Huaping introduced that among the four chapters, "Fiber·New Life" includes two categories of products: biobased chemical fibers and recycled chemical fibers, totaling 7 types. It uses degradable biobased raw materials to replace traditional resources and recycles waste textiles to practice circular economy, establishing a multi-dimensional green and low-carbon manufacturing system; "Fiber·Iteration" includes three categories of products: elastic fibers, comfort fibers, and all-effect temperature control fibers, reflecting the iterative upgrading of fiber technology; "Fiber·Surging Waves" includes three categories of products: anti-transparency sweat-repellent fibers, multi-functional antibacterial fibers, and easy-to-clean fibers, reconstructing the aesthetic of summer clothing with sun protection technology; "Fiber·Breakthrough" includes two categories of products: high-quality flame-retardant fibers and high-performance fibers, representing China's fiber breakthroughs over foreign barriers: high-quality flame-retardant fibers produce low smoke, no flame, and no molten droplets when burning; high-performance fibers achieve performance limits at the micron level, from life protection to extreme environments, from material advancement to performance peak, realizing cross-border applications. 

In addition, Wang Huaping presented the research results of the 2025 fiber trend elements, covering five consumption scenarios such as home wear, daily casual wear, and outdoor functional wear. Different scenarios have put forward differentiated demands for the functions, comfort, and green attributes of fibers, highlighting the changes in consumer demands. "The fiber value evaluation system is undergoing a profound transformation, shifting from a 'performance competition' to a comprehensive value competition of functions, experiences, and meanings," Wang Huaping said. "The Chinese chemical fiber industry is leveraging its 'accumulating momentum to break through' spirit to build a new global competitive advantage featuring leading technology, ecological friendliness, and value sharing."
