To break through the development bottleneck of China's emergency security fiber products industry and lead the high-quality development of the industry, the strategic research and consulting project of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, "Research on Emergency Security Fiber Products and Their Industry Development Strategy", was recently launched.
At the recent kick-off meeting, Li Guimei, the president of the China Industrial Textiles Association, delivered the opening report on behalf of the overall group, elaborating on the background of the project's initiation. She pointed out that currently, the development of the fiber products industry for emergency security in our country is confronted with problems such as weak research foundation, lack of core technologies, weak innovation capacity, and an incomplete standardization system. It presents a current situation of being "big but not strong, comprehensive but not excellent", and urgently needs to provide strategic support for enhancing the public safety level of the entire population through high-quality and leapfrog development. She also elaborated in detail on the research objectives, contents, expected outcomes, plans, team composition, budget and division of labor of the project. She said that they would focus on the current state of the industry, the list of "bottleneck" technologies and the standardization system, and form a list of breakthroughs and implementation paths to provide support for national decision-making.
Si Yang, a researcher from the Textile Science and Technology Innovation Center of Donghua University, delivered a report on behalf of the Natural Disaster Group. Focusing on natural disaster products such as fire suits, water rescue suits, cold-proof suits, fall safety ropes and tents, he analyzed the current situation and constraints of the industry from four aspects: fiber materials, forming technology, functional integration and equipment intelligence, and proposed key development routes and strategic goal suggestions. Professor Sun Runjun from the School of Textile Science and Engineering of Xi 'an Polytechnic University, on behalf of the Accident and Disaster Team, analyzed the industrial bottlenecks of products such as arc protective clothing, melt splash protective clothing, explosion-proof clothing, and high-altitude operation protective clothing, and put forward key special projects and policy suggestions. Professor Liu Xin from the School of Materials Science and Engineering of Wuhan Textile University, on behalf of the Public Emergency Group, focused on chemical protective textiles, bulletproof suits, cut and puncture resistant suits, and low-equivalent ionizing radiation protective textiles, analyzed the industrial chain gaps of ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene and aramid products, and explored the path of high-quality development.
During the expert discussion session, academicians Jiang Shicheng, Xu Weilin, Sun Jinliang, Sun Yize, Wang Yuzhong and experts such as Li Lingshen, vice president of the China National Textile and Apparel Council, offered their suggestions and strategies on research ideas, methods, key contents and research goals.
Sun Ruizhe, the president of the China National Textile and Apparel Council, emphasized that this project concerns people's lives and safety as well as social stability, and reflects a new dimension of high-quality development in the textile industry. During the crucial period of planning the 15th Five-Year Plan, research should be closely integrated with the national strategy. It is suggested to establish new policy logic, development logic and value logic, promote the integration of academic and industrial innovation, and achieve the unity of economic, social and ecological benefits.
